We’ve been wanting to holiday overseas for a while now, but our trip to Langkawi was kind of a last minute one. Just a week spent there, but enough time to feel like we had removed ourselves from our usual lives. I was surprised at how popular and busy with tourists this Malaysian Island was, as people described it as a “sleepy little town”. But as my partner suggested if you’ve been to Kuta, then Langkawi could be considered slow paced.

I grew to really enjoy the place, making “old favourites” of local Malay eateries. We rented a scooter and rode around a lot of the time, enjoying the feeling of freedom any kind of bike brings you.

We stayed in beautiful accommodation just outside the busy part of town, up a giant hill amongst the lush jungle. Most days, monkeys (Dusky Leaf and Macaques) would swing past our balcony…
